3/06/2012 The Lady 16 Comments

Dear Readers,
Since The Anti-Austen has decided to do away with our male guest-posting for an unforeseen amount of time, Colonel Paisley and Featherstone McGee have been hard at work creating their own dating blog.

If you're ever in need of more dating blogs, and generally just miss these fellas, you now know where to go.

Wait! When did this decision happen and (if I can be permitted a short whine) whyyyyyyyyyy?

I'm going to guess it's because the guys were melodramatic and in some cases more emotional than the girls were. Their posts just weren't the same quality as those of the Charmer or the Romantic (who is now on a mission.)

Wow. Just...wow.

Dear Anonymous Dos,

I will agree with you that our posts aren't as good as the Romantic's. I do miss her. But I dare say our posts are still pretty good. :)

As a representative from the other party, I'd like to offer that this split is somewhat of a mutual agreement. Both parties felt that it would be mutually beneficial. There are hopefully no hard feelings left towards either the lovely ladies of The Anti-Austen or the dashing dudes of Bropinions.

I disagree with the first point made by "Anonymous Dos", but I do agree with his/her second point, adding that nobody's posts approach the quality of our dear Charmer and our deeply-missed Romantic.

I think anonymous 2 is being a tad bit sharp with their accusations of melodrama; but I do agree that the guys' posts were much, much worse than the girls'.

I think you are all being ridiculous...minus you of course Colonel, whose own blog I am thrilled to be a part of! All the posts are fabulous, and I am sure a lot goes into, them having the courage (while anonymously) to share their stories with us. Personally I am grateful for all of their insights, and think they are all fabulous writers! Don't be so hard on them, and I definitely don't think you should be putting the other writers of either blog down. The end.

I totally agree with that last post by anonymous! You are all fabulous writers, and I want to hear from all of you! (Even the dashing dudes. I need the insight of guys to understand them more.) So thank you Colonel Paisley!

I agree with anonymous dos completely. Featherstone was way more emotional than me or any of my 5 roommtates. As dos shouldn't criticize. If you post your stuff online its because you want feedback and you'll just have to take the good with the bad. Just because someone has a negative opinion doesn't make it any less valid or make it wrong for them to share it.

Why is it bad that their posts were emotional? Don't we girls go around saying we want sensitive guys?

I think everyone is being ridiculous too. The girls are still writing, the guys are still writing. They're just writing on separate blogs now. End of story. How does this suddenly change everything, including our opinions of them?

I like them BOTH. So there. Yes, there's strong points and weak points and whatever else, but I like learning new things. So why bother being all ruffled about it?

Amen Heidi and The Skeptic!

Heidi, I think you missed the points that people were making. Their opinions never changed, they were just expressing the fact that they didn't like the guys or their posts. There has been no change in their opinions, they just chose to voice them now.
I agree that it's a little petty of them to be that ummm... loud about those opinions now as opposed to on different posts. But you shouldn't tell them to shut up just because you don't like what they're saying. Freedom of speech, laws of the internet and all that jazz.

Don't the comments left on those posts tell a different story?

As reflected in my first comment (Anonymous Uno), I'm still sad to see the guys go- whether or not they were "too" emotional (what does that even mean?), they still made for interesting reading, and I for one enjoyed them. I'm also glad to see they're still writing elsewhere.
